ATTENTION: 2021 Graduated Seniors
For 2021 graduating seniors, the standardized testing deadline to qualify for the Promise Scholarship has been extended from August 2021 to October 2021.

For 2021 graduating seniors receiving the Promise Scholarship for the first time in 2021-22, the test requirements have been lowered:



    • SAT composite score – 1080 (regularly 1100)
    • SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score – 510 (regularly 530)
    • SAT Math score – 510 (regularly 520)



    • ACT composite score – 21 (regularly 22)
    • ACT English score – 19 (regularly 20)
    • ACT Reading score – 19 (regularly 20)
    • ACT Science score – 19 (regularly 20)
    • ACT Math score – 19 (regularly 20)


Students graduating in 2021 and 2022 will now qualify for super-scoring to achieve the minimum standardized testing scores required to qualify for the Promise Scholarship. Students can take their top scores from sub-sections of different SAT and ACT tests they’ve taken and combine them for a higher overall score.

2021 Summer Feeding Program
The Mineral County Schools announces their sponsorship of the federally funded Summer Food Service Program. 
Breakfast and Lunch is open to all children, ages 18 years and under, who would like to participate.

American Rescue Plan--Elementary & Secondary Schools Emergency Relief Funding

July 21, 2021—Mineral County Schools is seeking public comment and feedback on our proposed plan for utilizing ARP-ESSERF federal funding. The ARP ESSERF grant will be dispersed from the WV Department of Education. The required focus areas of the ARP ESSERF grant are Learning Recovery & Innovation, Health & Safety, and Infrastructure. The MCS plan was presented to the WVDE on July 12, 2021.

Summer School Application Forms
Mineral County Schools is teaming up this summer to provide our first Summer SOLE program available for all our current students. Summer SOLE is our Summer Students Opportunities for Learning and Engagement (SOLE). Our summer programs are grant funded through WVDE and PreK/HS. There will be sites across the county offering credit recovery, intervention, and enrichment opportunities for our students. Applications are coming out now! Sign up so we can plan great thematic activities that reinforce English, math, and STEM programs. Click to access dates and information about each program and the school sites. Meals and transportation will be provided daily to the programs. There will be different offerings based on grade levels and student sign ups. Students in grades K-3 will also be able to participate in the WVU Energy Express program and Summer SOLE. If you have questions about the programs, please contact your child’s school or email Mrs. Jackie Beverlin ([email protected]). 
Frankfort Middle School and Keyser Middle School are currently offering evening grade recovery and tutoring to students in grades 5-8. For more information, please contact the school that your student attends.

Frankfort High School and Keyser High School are currently offering evening credit recovery and tutoring to students in grades 9-12. For more information, please contact the school that your student attends.
Please note when registering for school for the 2021 school year you will need your child's STATE CERTIFIED BIRTH CERTIFICATE.  

We do not accept the County Birth Certificate or the Hospital Birth Certificate.  If you do not have the WV State Certified Birth Certificate, please apply for one now as it takes a few weeks to process.
