FHS students enter contest

Students included in the photo are participating in the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest. Each year, more than 4,000 high school students from across the country participate in the VFW Auxiliary’s contest.   The contest began in 1979 to recognize up-and-coming artists and encourage patriotism in youth. Winners will be selected and will win monetary prizes for first, second, and third place in Mineral County. One or more will then be selected to participate in the state competition. The first-place winner from each state competes for national awards totaling $34,000. Students must submit a typed explanation of patriotism expressed in art (250 words or less). Frankfort High School has participated in this competition every year since its inception. Pictured are Paisley Raines, Chloe Westfall, Eddie Groer, and Raley Nester.
