The West Virginia Department of Education is honored to announce the 2026 Golden Horseshoe winners for Mineral County. Since 1931, students have been honored as Knights of the Golden Horseshoe, having demonstrated exceptional knowledge of West Virginia history on the state administered exam. This year, 225 winners will join the ranks of WV citizens who have won this prestigious award. Four eighth grade Mineral County students will be recognized at the Golden Horseshoe ceremony on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at the West Virginia Cultural Center in Charleston, WV. Mineral County Schools would like to congratulate the 2026 county winners:
