At the Cook Center for Human Connection, we recognize that summer brings both excitement and challenges for families. In June’s Mental Health Newsletter (English/Spanish), we’re focusing on how to create a summer that fosters connection, balance, and well-being for your child. In this newsletter, you’ll find strategies to help maintain healthy routines, encourage social interaction, and set boundaries for screen time. We’re also sharing simple ways parents can support a smooth transition into summer. We’re excited to provide valuable resources, including ParentGuidance.org - a platform designed to help you navigate your child’s emotional well-being with expert insights and practical tools. You can access all of the ParentGuiance.org articles and links to more resources found on the parents section of our MCS webpage.

MCS Calendar for August and September
School Calendar Updates for Families and Students Our waiver request to the West Virginia Department of Education for last week’s cancellation has been approved. This means we will not need to extend the student calendar. Reminder: Schools will be closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day. The last day for students is Thursday, May 29th which will be a 3-hour early dismissal. The final week of school is full of celebration, reflection, and wrapping up a great year. Please help us finish strong by ensuring your child is in school every day. We’re striving for 95% attendance and need everyone’s support to reach that goal!
